Bringing the Community To Life
"The long school holidays mean that thousands of children will miss meals and go hungry, because their parents cannot afford to feed them. More than two thirds of families classed as living in food poverty rely on free food given out in schools - through free school lunches, or breakfast and after-school clubs - to feed their children. Without it, families said that they would not be able to provide enough food for their children through the summer holiday. One in five parents in the UK are struggling to feed their children,"
These are the findings of research carried out by the Trussell Trust, Tesco and the food-distribution charity, FareShare.
How can we help?
Our Coventry Foodbank box is at the back of church. The contents will be taken each week to the Hope Centre in Hillfields to make sure that they have our contributions ready for distribution to families who will find feeding their children even more difficult than normal during the summer holidays.
New Shopping Lists will be given out on Sunday to help you remember what they need.
We've been doing a good job. Let's make an extra special effort over the next few weeks.
Thank you.
